Welcome to the AEW Dark Database!

This database aims to make it easier to find the matches of the 979 wrestlers who appeared on AEW Dark (2019-2023) and AEW Dark: Elevation (2021-2023). Individual pages for each wrestler include links to their matches from YouTube episodes and win-loss records pertaining to the AEW Dark episodes.

AEW Dark #116 – November 9, 2021 – Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Full episode on YouTube.

AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation were a clear throwback to the days of syndicated shows like WWF Superstars, WWF Wrestling Challenge, WCW Pro, and WCW Worldwide. Episodes featured mostly short matches pitting established or rising stars against local talent from various independents. One of the great things about the start of AEW was that it was a completely new promotion. It had several former WWE stars plus the Bullet Club and other notable names on the independents, but it was clear that AEW would need to develop some homegrown talent to keep the roster fresh and exciting. The Dark shows played a big part in that. We saw Will Hobbs transform into Powerhouse Hobbs; the Acclaimed gel into a bonified and entertaining tag team; and folks like Ricky Starks and Willow Nightingale show why they deserve a spot on weekly television. It was the ground for very young and very green future stars like Julia Hart and Skye Blue to gain experience working with Kris Statlander, Emi Sakura, and Serena Deeb, among others. Note that the four names in “Taeler Hendrix’s Female Free Agents to Watch in 2024” are veterans of AEW Dark: Brittnie Brooks, Notorious Mimi, Viva Van, and Alex Gracia. We will look back in 10-15 years and see how some of Dark’s “jobbers” on the losing end of most matches will be major stars in one promotion or another. In sum – the main sentiment about Dark and Dark: Elevation, I think, is to quote Samantha Schipman’s article in April 2023 just after the cancellation of both programs: “AEW Dark Deserves More Credit.”

Another significance of AEW Dark: it was an important part of AEW and the continuity of professional wrestling during the pandemic. Throughout 2020, you could depend on new episodes to drop every Tuesday on YouTube. It was a small thing but nonetheless something to anticipate when everything else was upside down. Plus, Dark gave work to lots of people when other promotions downsized rosters and suspended shows.

For me, this database is a passion project stemming from an interest in a wrestling promotion’s secondary or tertiary programs. I enjoyed watching AEW Dark on YouTube during my daily commute and always wanted to find a better way to quickly find the matches of this or that wrestler. Hence – this simple database.
